In the heart of San Mateo County, San Bruno dates back to 1848 when much of the land that would become San Bruno was purchased by Darius Mills, founder of the Bank of California. In 1914, San Bruno became an official municipality and had roughly 1,400 residents. By the 1940s, San Bruno made the dramatic change from rural town to thriving city.
Today, San Bruno has over 40,000 residents. More than an airport city, San Bruno is surrounded by beautiful unspoiled beaches and mountainsides. San Bruno and the surrounding cities are also home to many high-tech, biotech, and financial centers making it an ideal commute location.
In addition, Skyline College, a medium-sized, two-year college, rich in diversity is located in San Bruno. A wide array of shopping and dining, including The Shops at Tanforan and Serramonte Center, are within minutes of Merimont. Recreation abounds in San Bruno with Golden Gate National Recreation Area and San Bruno Mountain State and County Park as well as Sharp Park Golf Course, which golfers are sure to enjoy.
