SummerHill Green

SummerHill Homes’ Green Task Force is our internal think-tank that innovates new green building practices and technologies.

The group provides on-going education and research on green construction materials and techniques. The task force works with a diverse community of industry experts who share our commitment to green building practices. Building increasingly sustainable homes requires informed decision-making throughout the homebuilding process, and we are committed to staying informed.

“At SummerHill, we do our part in limiting landfill waste by recycling 50% or more of all construction debris we generate.”

We use independent third-party verification to confirm that our construction practices achieve the high green standards that we set for our homes.

We’ve partnered with Build It Green,a California non-profit that has written the green building standards which are rapidly being adopted by city governments throughout the entire state of California. Build It Green has developed the Green Point Rated® program, an objective home rating system based on energy efficiency, resource conservation, indoor air quality, water conservation and community development in California. SummerHill has voluntarily undergone Build It Green GreenPoint Rated certification on many of its current communities.

At its essence, green building is about building better, more durable structures in infill locations, a principle that has been at our core ever since our founding. We invite you to join us on the path to a greener future.

SummerHill Homes energy savings features will vary depending upon the floor plans, elevations, design amenities and the location of the home, among other factors. Actual energy costs and/or energy usage are dependent on a number of factors, including utility rates, energy consumption, home maintenance, size of household, energy conservation practices, home orientation, and surrounding climate and weather conditions. SummerHill utilizes independent energy rating organizations. SummerHill has no business interest in any home energy efficiency evaluation organization, including Build It Green® or GreenPoint®. Any green building or energy conservation certifications received for any home are the result of a third party evaluation of the home in question, and accordingly, SummerHill does not guarantee, represent, warrant or covenant that any home meets the requirements or standards of any such certifications.
