SummerHill Homes has a long history of supporting the local community and charitable organizations. We\u2019re honored to give back to the community that gives so much to us. Recently, our president, Robert Freed, had the opportunity to fund a classroom project<\/a> through the innovative crowdfunding platform, DonorsChoose<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since over 94%\nof teachers purchase supplies for their classrooms with their own money<\/a>,\nDonorsChoose bridges the gap to school funding for teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s DonorsChoose?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

DonorsChoose is nonprofit organization focused on connecting\npublic school teachers with donors all over the nation to raise funds for\nclassroom projects, field trips, and more. \nDonorsChoose was started by a former public school teacher who\nunderstands the difficulty teachers face in getting the supplies they need <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does DonorsChoose work?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

What makes DonorsChoose different from most crowdfunding\nplatforms is that they\u2019re involved every step of the way: they review each\nrequest, purchase the items once the project is funded, and ship materials\ndirectly to the school. Each donor receives a thank you note and report on how\neach dollar was spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
