Before you start looking for your new home\nin the Bay Area, check out some of these organization tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create a master file system<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a lot of paperwork involved in finding a new home.\nFrom financial documents to marketing materials, it can become difficult\nkeeping track of every piece of paper. To help keep things organized, create a\nmaster filing system to hold all of your house-hunting related documents so\neverything is in one place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>You can do this with a physical folder or a digitally.\nThere\u2019s plenty of cloud-based storage apps that make it possible to access the\ninformation from any device. You can create folders for each individual\nproperty and include your general impressions (more on this later), property\nlisting links, virtual tour links, and photos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Give homes nicknames<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Popularized by Chip and Joanna Gaines, create unique\nnicknames for the homes you tour. Nicknames help you remember each home as you\nthink back through the homes you visited. You can use a specific feature, like\n\u2018Blue Door House,\u2019 to denote each home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take detailed notes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The average homebuyer views about 9 homes before buying.\nChances are, unless you have a photographic memory, you\u2019ll probably start\nconfusing the homes you\u2019ve seen. Avoid that by taking notes of each home you\ntour. In addition to the chosen nickname, jot down your impressions of each\nhome, features, and anything else that stood out to you. This will make it\neasier to compare homes later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some things to take note of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Basic home information (price, square footage,\nbed\/bath count, location)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Home style and features (number of stories, lot\nlocation, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your thoughts on the neighborhood and the home\nitself<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pros and cons of the home<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potential changes you\u2019d make<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Take photos<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t rely just on the listing photos; take your own while\ntouring. Homes don\u2019t always look the same in real life as they do in photos.\nTaking pictures will help you recall particular details of a home and make it\neasier to compare homes when it is time to debrief.
