But did you realize that working from\nhome is also environmentally sustainable? It\u2019s true! Not having to drive to the\noffice daily has lessened the environmental impact of working. But with a few\nadditional tweaks, you can make working from home more efficient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some easy sustainability tips on how you can\ngreenify your home office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Make the most of natural light<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Maximizing the power of natural light means you\u2019ll need to\nrely less on artificial lights. Choose a room with south-facing windows so you\ncan enjoy the natural light during traditional working hours, especially during\nthe spring and summer months. Consider painting the walls white or a lighter\nshade to better reflect the light or add a mirror to capture the light from the\nwindow. If your office doesn\u2019t get a lot of natural light, swap in\nenergy-efficient light bulbs to reduce your energy consumption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Choose sustainable materials<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re setting up a new office, or looking to replace\nyour current furniture, choose pieces made from sustainable materials like\ncork, bamboo, or reclaimed wood. Another eco-friendly option is renting or\npurchasing secondhand furniture. This could be a wise investment if you plan on\nreturning to the office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Look for VOC-free paints<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Green paints (not the color) are great if you decide to\nrepaint your office to better fit your vision of the perfect workspace. Look\nfor paints that are low- or zero-VOC (volatile organic compounds). These paints\nrelease less or no harmful compounds that could be hazardous to your health and\nthe environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Create sustainable printing habits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We may live in a digital and paperless world but sometimes\nyou still need to print stuff for work. Do your best to limit the amount you\nprint, opting to stay digital as much as possible. When printing is\nunavoidable, implement sustainable printing habits: use recycled paper, print\non both sides of the page, choose eco-friendly inks and toners, opt for an\nenergy-efficient printer, and recycle used products as much as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be energy-efficient<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Working at home often means using more energy than you did\nbefore since you\u2019re home more often. Stay mindful of your energy use, turning\noff lights in empty rooms, using smart thermostats to regulate the internal\ntemperature, using energy-efficient devices as much as possible. Unplug equipment\nyou\u2019re not using to save additional energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are just a few ways you can create a green and sustainable home office.
